Helvart Tahini 300 g
POL'S Tahini is a single-ingredient product made by grinding roasted sesame in a stone or steel mill. The oil naturally present in sesame is released during grinding and gives the product its flow; no added oil, sugar or emulsifier is needed.
Its range of use goes far beyond halva. At breakfast it is stirred together with molasses; in Middle Eastern cooking it is an obligatory component of meze such as hummus and baba ganoush; and in confectionery it appears in everything from semolina halva to tahini buns. Oil rising to the top of a resting jar is normal and stirs back in.

Tahini is consumed on two channels, breakfast and kitchen production; in venues making meze and confectionery the order quantity runs markedly higher than breakfast alone would suggest. Store in a cool, dry place. After opening, keep sealed and refrigerated.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the oil on top of the jar normal?
It is. With no emulsifier used, the sesame's own oil rises over time. Stirring from the bottom returns the product to its original consistency.
Should it be refrigerated?
Not necessary. A cool, dry place is enough; refrigeration hardens it and makes stirring difficult.
How much is used in hummus?
The proportion varies by recipe, but tahini is the ingredient that defines the taste of hummus; too little and the chickpea leads, too much and the product takes on a bitter finish.
